Role Overview
The Commissioning Specialist plays a crucial role in the technical documentation and commissioning of hydroelectric turbine-generator systems. Collaborating closely with the Commissioning Manager, the specialist will evaluate designs, create installation manuals, outline tooling requirements, verify instruments, and oversee the commissioning of auxiliary systems along with the turbine and generator.

Key Responsibilities
During the Preparation and Planning Phase:
• Assist the project execution team with installation and commissioning issues;
• Provide technical governance and maintain customer relations regarding technical aspects;
• Enhance the technical proficiency of the Field Services team through support, training, and mentoring on best practices and calculations;
• Ensure timely delivery of Field Service documentation;
• Review designs and suggest modifications to mitigate installation challenges, enhance safety and quality, and reduce installation time and costs;
• Participate in the technical training of site teams;
• Document technical expertise and best practices;
• Contribute to the overall quality and excellence in the execution of installation and commissioning.

During the Execution Phase:
• Ensure that all work is conducted safely;
• Verify instrument functionality on-site;
• Oversee the start-up of various auxiliary systems;
• Conduct the commissioning of the turbine and generator;
• Maintain quality records as work progresses;
• Collaborate with field instrumentation technicians to plan and support pre-commissioning efforts;
• Provide technical support to site teams regarding any issues or challenges;
• Work together to resolve complex problems.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma (DEC) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience;
• Availability for work on project sites both domestically and internationally;
• Strong understanding of electro-mechanical systems;
• Ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives under tight deadlines;
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, along with the ability to work independently;
• Strong customer service orientation;
• Fluency in both French and English is required for site work across Canada;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) and general computer skills;
• Familiarity with DasyLab or any data acquisition software is an asset;
• Knowledge of IEEE 115 is considered beneficial;
• Experience in electrical or mechanical installation is an asset.
