Your Responsibilities: Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, the Occupational Health and Safety Advisor will be instrumental in promoting exemplary health and safety standards across the organization. This role involves the implementation, assessment, promotion, and continuous enhancement of Minto's integrated health and safety program. The ideal candidate will be proactive, resourceful, and detail-oriented, capable of prioritizing tasks, exercising sound judgment, and delivering high-quality work while demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Key Duties Include:

  • Collaborating with Minto Properties Inc. and Minto Apartment REIT to manage and implement the Health & Safety program.
  • Ensuring adherence to the Corporate Health & Safety Program for all employees and properties.
  • Advocating for the highest standards of health and safety practices.
  • Providing support to property operations and industrial construction projects.
  • Conducting inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and Minto's safe work procedures.
  • Utilizing administrative procedures and evaluation tools to monitor the effectiveness of the Health & Safety program.
  • Keeping Minto Properties Inc. and Minto Apartment REIT informed of any legislative changes affecting operations.
  • Conducting comprehensive reviews of the Health & Safety program on a quarterly and annual basis.
  • Working with project teams to ensure compliance for new initiatives and participating in pre-start meetings with contractors.
  • Integrating health and safety considerations into operational practices.
  • Maintaining records of incidents and injuries, analyzing trends to mitigate hazards.
  • Assisting with injury reporting procedures to ensure prompt and accurate documentation.
  • Facilitating effective Health and Safety Committees.
  • Ensuring employees complete necessary health and safety training.
  • Keeping training records up to date and identifying gaps.
  • Ensuring completion and documentation of health and safety tasks.
  • Providing training and safety talks as required.
  • Investigating incidents to prevent recurrence and maintaining records.
  • Assisting with emergency response plans and procedures.
  • Offering after-hours support in emergencies when necessary.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • A recognized health and safety designation is advantageous.
  • Certification as a health and safety lead or internal auditor is beneficial.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in health and safety program management and development.
  • Experience in industrial and construction sectors is essential.
  • Familiarity with workplace roles and responsibilities.
  • Current certification in Standard First Aid.
  • Certification as a Joint Health and Safety Committee member is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and health and safety software.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation related to workplace safety.
