About the Role

The Government of Alberta is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Deputy Chief Medical Examiner to join our team. As a key member of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, you will play a critical role in overseeing and managing death investigations in the southern region of the province.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Chief Medical Examiner with oversight and management of death investigations
  • Conduct death investigations, including provision of expert testimony in court as needed
  • Oversee and manage the proper conduct of death investigations for the Calgary OCME office
  • Mentor and coach a team of medical examiners and forensic pathologists
  • Develop and maintain effective liaisons with criminal justice partners, allied medical professionals, and families

Requirements

  • Advanced leadership experience in forensic pathology, policy, administration, and finance leadership
  • Five (5) years of Forensic Pathology experience, post Fellowship Training
  • Subspecialist certification in Forensic Pathology
  • Exceptional communication and relationship building skills
  • Medical doctor with Board Certification in Anatomical or General Pathology (or equivalent) with an additional Fellowship year of training in Forensic Pathology
