Senior Procurement Specialist

The Senior Buyer is a key member of the BRC Group - Tayco and BRC team, responsible for the tactical procurement of commodities, supplies, equipment, and services to support the organization's operations. This role requires a strategic thinker who can coordinate with Operations to maintain optimal inventory levels, negotiate favorable prices and terms, and build strong relationships with key suppliers.
Key Responsibilities- Purchase Order Management: Prepare and manage purchase orders for raw materials, consumables, subcontractors, and services, expediting when necessary to ensure timely delivery.
- Inventory Management: Analyze and implement effective inventory levels and management systems to minimize waste and optimize stock levels.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Source, evaluate, quote, select, and negotiate pricing for materials, supplies, and services, while maintaining strong relationships with key suppliers.
- Cost Reduction and Efficiency: Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements, and implement initiatives to achieve these goals.
- Vendor Measurement and Management: Evaluate and manage vendor performance to ensure compliance with purchasing policies and procedures.
- Communication and Collaboration: Collaborate with Scheduling and Production teams to ensure timely delivery of goods and services, and communicate with Operations and Customer Service regarding job completion and delivery requirements.
- Problem-Solving and Adaptability: Respond to unexpected shortages or delayed deliveries, and make alternate arrangements to minimize impact on the organization.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement teams to identify and implement process improvements.
- Compliance and Governance: Adhere to and enforce compliance with purchasing policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
- Education and Experience: Post-secondary education in material management or business, with a minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a buyer in a manufacturing environment.
- Skills and Abilities: Proficient computer skills, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, ability to work with little or no supervision, and a strong customer service focus.
- Professional Development: Completed or in the process of completing the Supply Chain Management Professional designation program is an asset.
- Salary and Benefits: Competitive salary range of $65,000 to $80,000 annually, plus health benefits and opportunities for growth and advancement.
