Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Activities Coordinator Per Diem to join our team at McLean Hospital. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing a variety of education, skills, and recreational activities to patients on our inpatient units.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead inpatient hospital education, skills, and recreational activities, interacting with individuals in a professional manner and within group protocol guidelines.
  • Provide scheduled coverage for unit staff as needed.
  • Deliver education, skills, and recreational activities in groups and individual activity modules/plans, representing current interests and needs of patients.
  • Provide feedback to the Group Therapy Coordinator on patient response to activities and suggest new activities that align with treatment objectives and patient interests.
  • Maintain a safe and failure-free environment for clients, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Interact with clients, treatment teams, and unit staff in a positive and effective manner.
  • Communicate client interactive behaviors to clinical staff in a timely and effective manner.
  • Complete clinical documentation and document information regarding clients who attended groups in a timely manner.
  • Participate in clinical/professional meetings, in-service didactics, and trainings as appropriate.
  • Report to a supervisor and use supervision effectively to enhance overall clinical awareness, growth, and professional development.
  • Demonstrate good responsibility regarding attendance and punctuality.
  • Follow established program policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Participate in supporting and managing the unit milieu.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities and special projects as needed.
  • Maintain a commitment to professional growth and competency.
  • Attend staff meetings and share input, concerns, or feedback.
  • Identify areas of strengths and areas needing improvement with supervisor during monthly supervision.
  • Use supervision effectively to enhance growth and development.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in social services, human services, or a related field.
  • Experience working with clinical populations is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to set and maintain appropriate boundaries.
  • Basic computer skills to use electronic or online systems for communication, clinical, and administrative purposes.
  • Required to complete electronic medical records training and demonstrate 80% accuracy on competency test within 30 days of hire.
