Fraser Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to fill the role of Clinical Mentor. This position will play a vital part in the delivery of excellent client care to nurses and other team members.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with Interprofessional Teams
Work closely with interprofessional team leaders to establish priorities for nurse and team learning. This involves assessing individual and team learning needs, determining required resources and learning opportunities, and analyzing information such as competency assessments, practice changes, and quality improvement initiatives. - Facilitate Staff Learning and Development
Role model best practice nursing skills and related competencies to facilitate staff learning and development. Promote skill development and clinical decision-making, answer questions related to client care, and assist with problem-solving. Observe staff as they perform client care, intervening as necessary to demonstrate appropriate provision of care. - Provide Clinical Guidance and Support
Offer clinical guidance, support, and on-the-job learning experiences for nurses in the application of nursing processes and practice standards. Observe and evaluate clinical practice to identify training and development opportunities. - Collaborate with Clinical Education
Contribute to the determination of skill development priorities for staff. Support preceptors/preceptees and mentors/mentees using teaching and learning principles as required. - Lead Continuous Quality Improvement
Provide leadership in continuous quality improvement activities by utilizing evidence-informed research to promote client/patient care based on best practice. - Ensure a Safe and Healthy Workplace
Ensure a safe and healthy workplace for clients/patients and staff through effective promotion of safe work practices and enforcement of health and safety requirements.
Education, Training, and Experience:
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Three (3) years of Acute, Community Health, or Long Term Care nursing practice relevant to the designated clinical area, including experience mentoring nursing staff and leadership training or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Valid BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle may be required.
