Position Title: Accounting Assistant
Location: Dartmouth, NS
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, starting at 8:00 am.
Compensation: $20.00/hr

About the Role

Advantage Personnel is actively seeking an Accounting Assistant for our esteemed client in Dartmouth. The ideal candidate will be a driven individual with exceptional organizational skills and a keen eye for detail, looking for opportunities for advancement within their career. This position is ideal for those who aspire to grow professionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conducting complex general ledger reconciliations;
  2. Performing bank reconciliations;
  3. Utilizing Sage 50 accounting software;
  4. Assisting in the preparation of monthly and year-end financial statements, along with other necessary financial reports;
  5. Managing monthly accounts receivable and accounts payable tasks for the finance department, including journal entry postings to the general ledger and activities related to the monthly accounting cycle;
  6. Preparing monthly reconciliations;
  7. Ensuring adherence to internal control procedures for all vendor and customer accounts regarding invoice processing, vendor payments, and customer collections;
  8. Executing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  2. Ability to collaborate effectively as a team player and adopt a solutions-oriented approach;
  3. Capacity to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment;
  4. Professional demeanor with a courteous attitude;
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word;
  6. Experience with Sage 50 software;
  7. Meticulous attention to detail coupled with strong organizational abilities;
  8. Aptitude for multitasking, prioritizing, and completing tasks efficiently;
  9. Completion of a Business Administration Program with a focus on accounting;
  10. 3-5 years of relevant experience in a similar capacity.
