Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team at BC Children's Hospital. This is a leadership role that requires a strong background in pediatric hematology/oncology and a passion for delivering high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Clinical Expertise
    • Provide advanced practice nursing expertise to the interdisciplinary healthcare team, focusing on pediatric hematology/oncology.
    • Develop and implement clinical practice guidelines and standards to ensure excellence in patient care.
    • Lead the design and implementation of integrated systems and processes to promote staff development and collaborative working relationships.
  • Quality Assurance and Research
    • Develop and implement quality assurance programs within the clinical area, collaborating with Operations and Practice Directors to report and recommend research initiatives.
    • Conduct research focused on identifying and incorporating best practices and evidence-based care to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Education and Mentorship
    • Develop, implement, and evaluate clinical and educational programs related to pediatric hematology/oncology.
    • Provide mentorship and supervision to graduate and undergraduate students, assisting them in developing advanced nursing practices and related competencies.
  • Leadership and Collaboration
    • Provide leadership and guidance to team members, using effective coaching techniques and mentorship to support staff development.
    • Collaborate with the leadership team to make final hiring decisions and participate in recruitment activities.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Master's degree in Nursing or a related field.
    • A minimum of five years of recent related experience working in a designated clinical specialty and/or healthcare setting in a progressive leadership role.
  • Qualifications and Skills
    • Canadian Nurses Association certification in pediatric hematology/oncology or a related specialty.
    • Current CPR certification, including Pediatric Advanced Life Support and ACLS.
    • Demonstrated ability to practice and lead in a trauma-informed, psychologically safe, anti-racist, patient-centered manner.
    • Effective collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and promote cooperative goals.
