Your Opportunity:

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Alberta Health Services is a specialized 29-bed facility dedicated to the care of critically ill patients. This unit operates at high capacity and is equipped to manage complex cases from various medical disciplines, including surgical, obstetric, gynecologic, neurosurgical, and trauma care. Our team utilizes evidence-based practices within a collaborative, interdisciplinary framework. We offer specialized services such as continuous and intermittent renal replacement therapy, therapeutic plasma exchange, and critical care support for various programs.

Role Overview:

As a Registered Nurse (RN) in our ICU, you will be instrumental in delivering comprehensive nursing services to patients and their families. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting thorough assessments and developing individualized care plans.
  • Implementing and evaluating nursing interventions to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient care and safety.
  • Educating and advocating for patients and their families throughout the care process.

Your role will be pivotal in fostering a holistic approach to health promotion and patient-centered care, aligning with the values and vision of Alberta Health Services.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:

  • A completed accredited nursing education program.
  • Active registration or eligibility for a practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.

Preferred Experience:

Experience in critical care settings, including trauma and acute care, is highly desirable. Additional training in areas such as:

  • Epidural management
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
  • CNA Critical Care Certification
  • Hemodialysis and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
  • Cardiac monitoring and management
