Status: Permanent, Full-time
The British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BC SPCA) is seeking a dedicated professional to take on the role of Senior Officer, Events. This pivotal position is integral to our fundraising initiatives, focusing on the planning and execution of various events that support our mission of aiding animals in need.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the comprehensive planning and execution of the annual Offleashed Vancouver Gala, collaborating closely with the Development Assistant, Events.
- Develop and implement fundraising strategies, manage logistics, timelines, budgets, and ensure effective donor stewardship and recognition.
- Work in partnership with the Philanthropy team and event committees to enhance relationship-building opportunities and increase support for Offleashed Vancouver.
- Lead logistical planning for the Offleashed Victoria Gala and two Fur Balls, providing strategic guidance to event leads.
- Ensure all event themes, branding, and messaging align with organizational objectives and support Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Utilize metrics to assess the success of events and provide regular reports on outcomes.
- Foster and maintain relationships with industry peers while committing to ongoing professional development.
- Supervise and mentor the Development Assistant, Events.
Daily Activities May Include:
- Creating a new sponsorship and ticket pricing structure for committee review.
- Leading collaborative meetings to refresh event branding.
- Providing feedback on event websites and coordinating with web developers.
- Reconciling revenue data with financial tracking systems.
- Preparing schedules for promotional video shoots and coordinating with colleagues.
- Compiling guest lists for executive meetings and preparing briefing materials.

Required Skills and Experience:
- Post-secondary education with 5-8 years of relevant experience in fundraising and event management.
- In-depth knowledge of event planning and fundraising strategies.
- Proven ability to create and manage budgets and plans effectively.
- Experience in managing vendor relationships and volunteer coordination.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a diverse audience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
- Valid driver's license is required.
