WORK SCHEDULE: 10AM-6:30PM / PRN / 2 SHIFTS PER MONTH / MUST BE AVAILABLE ON MONDAYS
Certification Requirement: WOCN Certification is mandatory
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead organization-wide initiatives focused on pressure ulcer prevention, wound management, and ostomy care, including supporting data collection, developing evidence-based policies, and advising on appropriate resources and decision-making protocols.
- Design and implement educational programs and clinical training for Emory Healthcare staff and students in the Wound Ostomy Continence Education Program.
- Provide expert clinical guidance to medical professionals and nursing staff regarding the management of complex wounds, fistulas, moisture control, and pressure ulcers.
- Assess and determine suitable nursing interventions for identified patient issues, symptoms, and educational needs related to wound and ostomy care.
- Recommend necessary equipment, materials, and resources to effectively execute a wound or ostomy care plan.
- Conduct pre-operative stoma site marking and provide ostomy education.
- Develop and deliver post-operative ostomy education and care plans for patients and their families.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possession of a valid, active, unencumbered Nursing license or a temporary permit approved by the relevant licensing authority.
- Current Healthcare Provider BLS Certification.
- A minimum of two years of recent Registered Nursing experience.
- Completion of an accredited WOC Nursing Education program.
- Certification in Wound Care and Ostomy Care must be obtained within 12 months.
- Certification in Continence Care is preferred but not mandatory.
- Previous experience in Wound and Ostomy care is advantageous but not required.
