Component Repair Technician

A Component Repair Technician plays a crucial role within our Sub-Assembly Repair and Epoxy teams. These professionals engage in various activities to restore engine components, ensuring they are ready for inspection and installation. The repairs focus on PT6, JT15D, and PW100 engine components, adhering strictly to Pratt & Whitney Canada Overhaul manuals and Engineering Repair Instructions (ERI's).

Key Responsibilities

  • Disassemble components such as inserts, pins, and sleeves.
  • Prepare and install sleeves and inserts utilizing freezing and heating methods.
  • Conduct flush flow and pressure tests in compliance with P&WC manuals.
  • Manage and issue materials (inventory control).
  • Disassemble, replace, and reassemble various engine parts.
  • Repair and install engine components according to ERI or manual specifications.
  • Test and inspect fuel surge accumulators as per the component maintenance manual.
  • Execute rear housing PCU port repairs.
  • Perform detailed finishing (deburring) of parts post-machining, using hand and rotary tools.
  • Blend and polish components to eliminate nicks, burrs, and scratches.
  • Carry out routine preventative maintenance as scheduled.
  • Maintain tools and equipment utilized in this department.
  • Undertake additional duties as required.
  • Training will be provided to enhance skills.
  • This role may involve shift work and overtime as necessary.
  • Exhibit behaviors that align with quality, health and safety, and environmental management practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum grade 12 education with relevant post-secondary training or equivalent experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience with related procedures is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, and fine motor skills are essential.
  • Basic computer literacy is required.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
  • A motivated individual with a goal-oriented mindset.

Work Environment

Individuals in this role should be aware that the position entails:

  • Safety: Personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory, including safety shoes, glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and masks or respirators.
  • Weight Handling: Ability to safely maneuver parts weighing up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 20 pounds frequently, using available hoists to prevent personal injury or damage to components.
  • Tools and Equipment: PPE is required, including safety shoes, glasses, gloves, and any other necessary protective gear.
  • Physical Requirements: The role involves a combination of standing, pulling, bending, crouching, walking, lifting, reaching, pushing, grasping, sitting, and using specialty tools. Occasional exposure to vibration, hot surfaces, and chemicals is expected. Willingness to move throughout the facility is essential.
  • Worksite Environment: Occasionally working in a shop setting that may contain humidity, chemicals, and odors.
