A Component Repair Technician plays a crucial role within our Sub-Assembly Repair team, focusing on Blending and Epoxy operations. This position involves executing a range of tasks aimed at restoring engine components to ensure they meet inspection and installation standards. The technician will specifically handle repairs on PT6, JT15D, and PW100 engine components, adhering to the guidelines set forth in Pratt & Whitney Canada Overhaul manuals and Engineering Repair Instructions (ERI's).

Key Responsibilities

  • Disassemble various engine inserts, pins, and sleeves.
  • Prepare and install sleeves and inserts utilizing freezing and heating methods.
  • Conduct flush flow and pressure tests in compliance with P&WC manuals.
  • Manage the control and distribution of materials (inventory management).
  • Execute disassembly, replacement, and final assembly of diverse engine components.
  • Perform repairs and installations of engine parts according to ERI or manual specifications.
  • Test and inspect fuel surge accumulators in line with the component maintenance manual.
  • Carry out rear housing PCU port repairs.
  • Finish and detail parts post-machining using hand and rotary powered tools.
  • Blend and polish components to eliminate nicks, burrs, and scratches.
  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance as per schedule.
  • Maintain tools and equipment utilized in this department.
  • Fulfill additional duties as required.
  • Training will be provided to enhance skills.
  • This role may involve shift work and overtime as necessary.
  • Exhibit behaviors aligned with quality, health and safety, and environmental management practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum grade 12 education with relevant post-secondary qualifications or equivalent work experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience with related procedures is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, and fine motor skills are essential.
  • Basic computer literacy is required.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
  • A motivated individual with a goal-oriented mindset.

Work Environment Considerations

Individuals in this role should be prepared for:

  • Safety: Compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, including safety shoes, glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and masks.
  • Weight Handling: Ability to safely maneuver engine parts, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds frequently.
  • Tools and Equipment: Adherence to PPE protocols while using various tools and equipment.
  • Physical Requirements: A combination of standing, bending, lifting, and using specialty tools, along with occasional exposure to vibration, heat, and chemicals.
  • Worksite Environment: Occasionally working in a shop setting with humidity, chemicals, and odors.
