Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Educational Support Specialist to join our team at the Toronto District School Board. As a Special Needs Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing support to students with diverse needs, including those with mild to severe exceptionalities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to students with mild to severe exceptionalities, including those with intellectual disabilities, autism, and physical disabilities.
  • Assist students with daily living skills, such as personal care, feeding, and toileting.
  • Support students with communication and behavioral challenges, including those with severe behavioral needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in supporting students with diverse needs.
Requirements
  • Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 6 months of experience working with children or adolescents with diverse needs.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
