Park Paving Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Foreman to join our Excavation Services team.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising a team of Excavator Operators, Grades People, and Flaggers to ensure that all excavation and removals projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead by Example: Participate in safety meetings and enforce safe work practices and procedures on the job site.
- Team Management: Supervise, coordinate, and schedule Excavator Operators, Grades People, and Flaggers.
- Project Coordination: Coordinate with Project Superintendents to ensure work is being carried out on budget, within scope, and on schedule.
- Site Productivity: Maximize site productivity by managing and coordinating work performance, quality, and efficiency of resources.
- Leadership and Training: Provide leadership, guidance, and training to the excavation team members.
- Progress Monitoring: Monitor progress and performance, and make necessary adjustments to ensure project success.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records, including daily logs, time sheets, and equipment maintenance requests.
- Resource Optimization: Ensure maximum utilization of trucking resources for efficiency at all times.
- Quality Control: Inspect work progress, equipment, and construction sites to verify safety and to ensure specifications are met.
- Project Experience: Work on municipal rehabilitation, new development, and industrial sites (pre-access drug/alcohol testing could be required).
- Order Management: Place orders for trucking and personnel as needed.
Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory role.
- Operational Experience: Minimum of 5 years running excavators.
- Project Experience: Municipal rehabilitation, and new development project experience.
- Technical Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of excavation techniques (earthworks, demolition, remediation/reclamation), underground utilities, understanding grades and survey, equipment, and materials.
- Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Construction Knowledge: Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Safety Knowledge: Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in excavation work.
- Time Management: Exceptional time management skills with the ability to prioritize activities and allocate resources effectively.
- Problem-Solving: Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Driver's License: Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
