INTRODUCTION:

The Senior Manager, Strategic Projects is responsible for identifying, developing, and spearheading the execution of high-impact initiatives and strategies that align with ScotiaMcLeod's long-term objectives and aspirations.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

In this capacity, you will:

  1. Oversee the formulation and implementation of strategic initiatives for ScotiaMcLeod, necessitating direct engagement with key stakeholders, including essential business partners across all Scotia Wealth Management divisions.
  2. Conduct market research, competitive evaluations, and internal analyses to uncover growth and enhancement opportunities.
  3. Assume overall accountability for designated projects, encompassing management of scope, budget, risk, resources, planning, and both internal and external communications. Ensure that the necessary resources and support are secured to complete initiatives accurately, punctually, and within budget.
  4. Assist the ScotiaMcLeod leadership team in strategizing, executing, and monitoring internal, cross-functional programs and procedures.
  5. Proactively pinpoint initiatives and processes that foster efficient and effective business operations.
  6. Facilitate regular meetings with relevant parties to ensure that projects and initiatives remain on schedule. Maintain an active inventory of initiatives, identifying responsible stakeholders and timelines for implementation.
  7. Develop and execute change management activities specifically related to assigned projects and initiatives.
  8. Lead and actively participate in identifying improvement opportunities and process efficiencies to enhance overall effectiveness while consulting with key partners and stakeholders.
  9. Comprehend how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should inform daily activities and decisions.
  10. Create an environment where your team strives for effective and efficient operations in alignment with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles.
  11. Foster a high-performance culture and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates your team by promoting an inclusive work environment and employing a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicate vision, values, and business strategy; and manage succession and development planning for the team.
DO YOU HAVE THE SKILLS:

  1. A Bachelor's degree is required; an MBA is preferred.
  2. Project Management (PMP) and/or Lean Six Sigma certification is advantageous.
  3. 5+ years of experience in corporate strategy or consulting, particularly in wealth management, banking, or the financial services sector, is beneficial.
  4. Strong quantitative, analytical, and conceptual problem-solving abilities, combined with exceptional business acumen and meticulous attention to detail.
  5. Excellent organizational and project management skills, with a desire to thrive in a fast-paced, challenging, and dynamic environment.
  6. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for engaging with stakeholders from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  7. The ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with other teams and senior executives.
  8. Advanced expertise in financial analysis.
  9. Advanced leadership capabilities in building strategic relationships and maintaining customer focus.
  10. Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
