Position Overview

Mountain Transport Institute Ltd is seeking a dedicated Financial Controller to oversee our financial operations and contribute to the growth of our diverse business portfolio. This role is essential for ensuring financial stability and strategic planning across our three distinct companies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing financial strategies that align with the overall objectives of the organization.
  • Analyzing and reporting on monthly and quarterly financial performance, ensuring timely and accurate information is available for decision-making.
  • Maintaining the integrity of the accounting system, including the preparation of cash flow forecasts and general ledger management.
  • Overseeing payroll, accounts payable, and receivable processes, along with job costing and invoicing.
  • Conducting bank reconciliations and ensuring compliance with all financial regulations.
  • Preparing financial analyses to support job bidding, contract negotiations, and risk assessments.
  • Coordinating financing activities and managing debt service obligations.
  • Preparing year-end financial statements and collaborating with external accountants for tax preparation.
  • Communicating effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Advising on internal controls and financial governance.
  • Assisting in the allocation of resources among the three businesses.
  • Preparing annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Supervising junior accounting personnel.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will possess a CPA designation and have a solid understanding of GAAP. A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in finance or accounting is required.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage and QuickBooks.
  • Experience with financial reporting systems and tools.
  • Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, and profitability analysis.
  • Familiarity with federal and provincial financial regulations.
  • Advanced IT skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Compensation and Benefits:
