Job Summary

The Renfrew County Catholic District School Board is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Educational Assistant to join our team in an integrated setting. As an Educational Assistant, you will work under the direction and supervision of a Teacher to develop and implement an educational program that emphasizes behavior management, socialization skills, developmental communication skills, and self-help skills.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Assist in developing and implementing an educational program in an integrated setting
  • Participate in program planning in close co-operation with the home setting and school
  • Maintain accurate daily records
  • Provide supervision as assigned
  • Other related duties

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • 2 or 3 year Community College Diploma in Educational Assistant, Autism and Behaviour Management, Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Worker Program, Early Childhood Education or Social Services
  • Candidates must be physically able to perform the essential duties of the position

Requirements

In addition to the qualifications listed above, you will need to possess:

  • Proven ability to deal with confidential information in a discrete manner
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be willing to enrol in CPR and First Aid as required
  • Cultural sensitivity
  • Working knowledge of computers and relevant software programs
  • Willing to participate in ongoing learning
  • Be a member of the collaborative team
  • Capable of working with a wide variety of students with special needs
  • Demonstrated competency in oral and written communication skills
  • A broad knowledge of child development and teaching skills

Physical Requirements

This role requires:

  • Intermittent physical activity including walking, standing, sitting, lifting and supporting students
  • Regular to frequent requirement, and as needed to lift children, including bending, stooping, stretching, squatting, pushing and pulling
  • Ability and willingness to perform required physical tasks
