Senior Environmental Planner Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Environmental Planner to join our team at Parsons. As a key member of our Critical Infrastructure team, you will be responsible for leading Environmental Assessment (EA) projects and mentoring junior staff.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental planning, with experience in completing Environmental Assessments, including Municipal Class EA, Transit Project Assessment Process, Canadian Impact Assessment Act, and Ministry of Transportation Class EA Process. You will also have excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead EA processes, including report writing, evaluation of alternatives, impact assessment, and development of project consultation programs
  • Prepare proposals and coordinate with subconsultants
  • Provide client liaison and coordination services
  • Mentor junior staff and provide guidance on environmental planning and assessment

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience in environmental planning and assessment
  • Post-secondary education in planning, environmental science, biology, ecology, geography, or a related field
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience completing Environmental Assessments
  • Experience in the Ontario market with a focus on infrastructure projects
  • Membership (candidate status or full membership) in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (RPP) and Canadian Institute of Planners (MCIP) or the ability to gain candidate status
  • French language considered an asset
