Job Title: Registered Nurse

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at The Royal Mental Health Centre. As a Registered Nurse in our psychiatric unit, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of a safe and therapeutic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide nursing care that is consistent with College Standards and supportive of patient treatment/rehabilitation goals.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Identify and coordinate services and resources to safeguard the person in care's entitlements and rights.
  • Lead and guide nursing staff in daily work assignments, ensuring work is completed to standards.
  • Provide patient care for the assigned case load and manage crisis situations.
  • Recognize and intervene around emergent health problems and provide a safe therapeutic environment.
  • Prepare and administer medication as per policy and procedure.
  • Apply the Mental Health Act and relevant legislation in practice.
  • Work in compliance with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse in the Province of Ontario is required.
  • BScN preferred.
  • Certification in psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing considered an asset.
  • Clear understanding of the MHA and relevant legislation.
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge and skill in psychiatric nursing practice.
  • Met the Royal nursing and hospital standards for mandatory education.
  • CPI and ASSIST training considered an asset.
  • Able to meet the Standards of nursing practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Recognized leadership skills with the ability to build the inter-disciplinary team approach.
  • Able to work effectively both independently and as a member of a professional inter-disciplinary treatment team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Reference Check – vulnerable sector.
  • Valid drivers' license.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation and incorporation of this legislation into practice.
  • English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension, and written expression. Bilingualism an asset.

Salary Range: $37.93 to $54.37 per hour
