Position Overview
Are you dedicated to advancing projects that bolster water security and enhance resilience against drought and flooding? As a Resilience Infrastructure Engineering Team Lead, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing significant infrastructure initiatives.
In this position, reporting to the Senior Manager of Watershed Resilience, you will serve as an engineering authority tasked with executing high-priority resilience infrastructure projects, which include:
- A comprehensive provincial review of water storage options
- The Scoping and Feasibility Study for the Ardley Reservoir
Your expertise will also extend to supporting various initiatives as the department's engineering resource for drought and flood management infrastructure, acting as a vital source of information regarding water storage solutions.
As a specialist in geotechnical, water resources, civil engineering, or a related discipline, you will undertake essential roles such as:
- Project management
- Guidance and mentorship for junior engineers, scientists, and technologists
Your technical insights will contribute to numerous watershed infrastructure grants, including the newly established $125-million Drought and Flood Protection Program.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting strategic evaluations of water storage alternatives that align with provincial objectives and enhance overall resilience.
- Executing feasibility studies for potential new major water management infrastructure.
- Offering engineering or technical guidance to strengthen provincial resilience against flooding and drought.
- Providing technical assistance to communities in developing comprehensive plans aimed at achieving long-term drought and flood mitigation within acceptable risk levels.
- Leading and nurturing team members to ensure successful project and program delivery.
The ideal candidate will be expected to actively support the branch, including contributing to briefings and managing contracts and grants. You will operate autonomously to deliver high-quality outcomes while ensuring regular updates to the team and supervisor.
