Job Purpose:
The Media Production Specialist will be responsible for creating various media items, including short films, documentaries, audio messages, and videos in multiple formats. This role involves editing and producing short videos to enhance our social media presence and ultimately strengthen Islamic Relief Canada's brand identity. By attending events and capturing testimonial videos, the Media Production Specialist will contribute to increasing brand awareness and promoting Islamic Relief Canada as the charity of choice.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Cover fundraising events and tours.
  • Capture and upload live streams of event highlights.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to produce campaign-specific videos.
  • Create advertisements and assets in various formats on a monthly basis, including social media.
  • Engage with the community to capture testimonial videos as needed by the marketing department.
  • Develop ad hoc videos, either by filming new content or modifying existing footage.
  • Utilize expertise in computer software editing programs and video equipment such as cameras, microphones, and lighting.
  • Provide direction and edits to freelance videographers for overflow projects.
  • Guide other videographers and make informed decisions for the video team.
  • Manage in-house studio maintenance.

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Completion of a college diploma or university degree in Media, Broadcasting, or a related field is required.
  • 2-3 years of full-time experience with a company or 4-5 years of freelance experience.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and other media programs (PremierePro, AfterEffects, Davinci, etc.).
  • A creative self-starter who is comfortable taking initiative and collaborating with others.
  • Detail-oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with mainstream social media platforms, including but not limited to Meta, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
  • Multi-lingual skills are an asset.
