About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Institutional Business Development Director to join our team at Sun Life Financial. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading institutional relationships, servicing institutional clients, and undertaking business development efforts in the Ontario market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Business Planning and Support
    • Support colleagues in building annual strategic plans and establishing objectives and key results indicators for the region.
    • Execute on the strategic plan, driving accountability for regional results.
    • Pivot with business needs and lead sales, relationship, and retention initiatives for the region.
    • Track emerging markets trends and factor them into the annual strategic plan.
  • Business Development and Relationship Management
    • Increase visibility and awareness of Sun Life Financial in the Ontario marketplace.
    • Establish the company's unique value proposition in the market.
    • Identify, develop, and close new business opportunities.
    • Collaborate with distribution channel partners to further progress on annual objectives.
    • Keep clients and key partners informed of new product developments and changes.
    • Build cross-functional partnerships with functions like Multi Asset Solutions, Marketing, and Product to drive business development efforts and identify positioning gaps.
    • Enhance client servicing frameworks to foster a service excellence culture for clients and key external and internal partners.
    • Work with regional field consultants and internal partners to complete inbound client or intermediary requests.
    • Undertake regional webinars, presentations, and social events to raise awareness and position Sun Life Financial's investment solutions.

    • Manage, lead, and develop a direct report.
    • Engage in meaningful coaching, career development, and employee wellness conversations with direct reports.

    • Ability to analyze, interpret, and communicate complex investment principles and figures.
  • Technology Savvy
    • Familiarity with investment and sales software applications such as eVestment, Salesforce, etc.
