POSITION SUMMARY:

The Clinical Counselor/Psychotherapist plays a crucial role in delivering psychotherapeutic evaluations and treatments to individuals aged 16 and above facing cognitive, emotional, or behavioral challenges. This is achieved through a therapeutic relationship that emphasizes both verbal and non-verbal communication, in either individual or group settings. Additionally, the Clinical Counselor/Psychotherapist will engage in clinical case consultations, participate in multidisciplinary team treatment planning sessions, facilitate psychoeducational groups, oversee student placements and supervision, and represent the organization in community outreach and presentations as needed.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Master's Degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, Social Work, or Occupational Therapy, or equivalent, with formal psychotherapy training including supervised practicum(s);
  • Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, and/or the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, or other relevant regulated health professional's college in Ontario;
  • 3-5 years of experience working with individuals aged 16 and older dealing with moderate to severe addictions and/or mental health challenges preferred;
  • Proven ability to connect effectively with individuals, colleagues, families, and the broader community;
  • Expertise in both individual and group counseling methodologies;
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed therapeutic approaches, with a focus on client-centered care;
  • Experience with at least two of the following therapeutic modalities: CBT, DBT, Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Brief/Solution Focused Therapy;
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in a multi-disciplinary team environment, including student supervision;
  • Proficiency in conducting psychotherapeutic assessments and delivering evidence-based intervention strategies;
  • Strong verbal, nonverbal, and written communication skills, including psychotherapy, counseling, advocacy, and de-escalation techniques;
  • Exhibits appropriate diplomacy and judgment when liaising with internal and external professionals, family members, colleagues, and the public;
  • Ability to thrive under pressure in a dynamic environment;
  • Capacity to collaborate effectively with internal and external colleagues/healthcare professionals to meet clients' recovery objectives;
  • Highly organized in the development, collection, and presentation of documented information;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Electronic Management Records software (e.g., EMHWare, CRMS), and adept at navigating computers and the internet;
  • Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate client needs;
