Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Operational Risk professional (1LoD or 2LoD) with a minimum of 7 years in the field. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of Corporate Investment Banking (CIB) products and services, have experience in regulatory interactions, and demonstrate the capability to lead and implement effective operational risk management strategies.

A strong grasp of processes, risks, and associated controls within Middle Office / Back Office functions, as well as support areas such as IT, Finance, Risk, and Compliance, is highly desirable. Proficiency in PC tools and applications, including MS Office, PowerPoint, and data visualization tools like PowerBI, is also preferred.

Primary Function:

Reporting to the second-line CACIB Risk Function / Department within the CACIB NY Branch, the Operational Risk Manager (ORM) will oversee the monitoring, reporting, and surveillance of all business-line / support functions (BL/SF) within their jurisdiction. This includes:

  • Incident and Loss identification
  • Control Indicators / Metrics
  • Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs)
  • Action Plan monitoring
  • Governance and reporting related to the Canadian entity

The ideal candidate will also have familiarity with various non-financial risks, including Compliance, Cybersecurity, Third-Party Risk Management, and Data Quality / Governance.

Responsibilities:

Utilizing a risk-based approach, the ORM will collaborate closely with the Canadian 1LoD to ensure that:

  • Incidents and losses are documented in the Olimpia tool, escalated appropriately, and control gaps are identified and addressed.
  • Key Risk / Key Control Indicators are established to effectively measure risks and control outcomes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • Coordination with the Paris CACIB Head Office ORM team and BL/SF ORM teams is maintained, including oversight of local indicators and those required by Head Office.
  • Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA) are prepared, reviewed, and challenged periodically, ensuring the accuracy and timely reporting of key processes, risks, and controls.
  • Strong relationships and effective communication are maintained with Operational Risk Representatives (ORR) in the 1LoD and other 2LoD functions in Risk, Compliance, and Audit.

Supplementary Information

The ORM will contribute to the CACIB Internal Control Committee (ICC) and participate in the US Risk Committee of CASA group, if applicable. Responsibilities also include contributions to semi-annual and annual reports on Internal Control for Head Office and organizing periodic Internal Control Committees for the Canadian Branch.

The ORM will engage in various 1LoD and 2LoD committees to deepen their understanding of the bank's Operational Risks and provide independent challenge where necessary. They will also manage interactions with regulators and assist in evaluating key risk areas and control issues.

The ORM will balance and manage requirements from CACIB Head Office and local management, performing spot-checks and testing controls as needed.

  • Proficient in MS Office, Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and Visual Basic.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools like Power BI is advantageous.
  • Proficient in English; French is a plus.
