Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Team Lead to join our Mental Health Respite Home team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and support to our team members, ensuring the smooth operation of the home, and promoting a safe and nurturing environment for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide coverage for the Program Supervisor during scheduled absences, fulfilling all responsibilities of the Program Supervisor.
  • Ensure the day-to-day running of the home is optimal, including managing staff, resources, and client needs.
  • Support families in accessing cultural activities and ceremonies, promoting their well-being and connection to their heritage.
  • Provide holistic support to families, including mentoring, coaching, and teaching, to empower them to meet their children's needs.
  • Establish trusting relationships with parents and their children, promoting a sense of safety and security.
  • Complete administrative duties, as assigned by the Program Supervisor, including scheduling, coordinating, and training staff.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to increase knowledge and skills, ensuring the team remains up-to-date with best practices.
  • Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery and promote a culture of teamwork and respect.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Human Services or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Four years of progressive experience working with families in a supportive manner, preferably in a child welfare environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding and appreciation for Indigenous issues and concerns, with a commitment to cultural safety and humility.
  • Strong counseling skills, experience in Relational Care, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on collaboration and mutual respect.
  • Person-focused crisis resolution and clinical counseling experience, with a commitment to trauma-informed care.
  • Knowledge of Strength-based philosophy and Indigenous culture and language, an asset.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check, all completed within the last 3 months.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ASIST Certificate (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) and/or de-escalation training, an asset.
  • Mental Health First Aid & Safe Talk, an asset.
  • The Link Commit 2 Kids Training, an asset.
  • Certification in DLE (The Purposeful Use of Daily Life Events) or TCS (Therapeutic Crisis Solutions), an asset.
