Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Medical Radiation Technologist to join our team at the Shuswap Lake General Hospital in Salmon Arm, BC. This is a casual opportunity that requires flexibility and adaptability.

Casual employment means work requirements can vary between zero and 37.5 hours per week. Work will be available on a short-notice, on-call basis and/or blocks of shifts pre-scheduled to relieve leaves of absences. Key Responsibilities

The Medical Radiography Technologist performs radiographic/fluoroscopic, CT scans, and related duties working in conjunction with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.

Impact and Growth

SLH is a busy facility located on the Trans-Canada Highway, capturing the needs of several surrounding communities. The Imaging Department at SLH has large, spacious diagnostic rooms in all departments. The department boasts digital radiography in all rooms, including the portable. On-site radiologists allow for a wide variety of exams and interventional procedures.

The majority of work is outpatient-based, with approximately 40 percent on inpatients or emergency patients. The department operates from 07:30 - 23:30 seven days a week, with on-call services after hours. SLH provides approximately 26,000 x-ray exams per year. This includes specialty procedures such as fluoro, injections, biopsies, drainages, and the OR.

Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited medical radiography program.
  • Current certification with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).

We are looking for a team player who works well within a multi-disciplinary setting, is organized, and has excellent communication skills. The successful applicant will be someone who can work independently and who is comfortable working alone in the department.

Effective April 01, 2024, the hourly wage will be $36.69 to $45.81 per hour.
