About the Role

Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital is seeking a skilled Dialysis Unit Assistant to join our team. As a Dialysis Unit Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the Interdisciplinary Team to provide high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Registered Nurses (RNs) in the Satellite Dialysis Centre with patient care and treatment.
  • Support the team in maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Perform administrative tasks, such as supply ordering and management.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
Requirements
  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent.
  • Dialysis Technician Assistant Certificate or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Dialysis Unit Assistant experience.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification.
  • Basic Medical terminology.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for working with programmable equipment.
  • Experience with supply ordering and management.
  • Knowledge of aseptic technique and universal precautions for infection control.
  • Good manual dexterity.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently in a busy environment.
  • Demonstrated good judgment in identifying and referring problems requiring team intervention.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Positive working relationship with team to contribute to a positive work life.
  • Is cognizant of emotion and experience of others while communicating with patient families and team members.
  • Demonstrated initiative and self-direction with the ability to work with minimal supervision in a team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to own professional development and continuing education.
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis and be available to work all shifts.
  • Collaborates with other team members.
  • Is knowledgeable of the roles of other team members and recognizes their contributions.
Working Conditions
  • Must be available to work all shifts, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and statutory holidays.
  • Hours of work are subject to change.
  • Salary is per the UNIFOR collective agreement ($25.81 per hour to $26.39 per hour).
