Accounts Payable Supervisor

The Accounts Payable Supervisor will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations in a high-volume environment, including providing feedback to staff for continued career development. This role will oversee the accurate and timely processing of invoices, expense claims, and weekly payments in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee and coordinate the accounts payable function, ensuring seamless operations and efficient processing of payments.
- Plan the department's workload and workflow, establishing clear objectives and priorities.
- Establish annual department and employee objectives, providing timely feedback and conducting annual performance reviews.
- Validate payments processed in the ERP system, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure timely processing of invoices, verifying compliance to company policies and procedures.
- Review and investigate invoices, communicating with relevant parties and departments to resolve issues.
- Answer queries from vendors or internal customers regarding payment status, diffusing any potential issues.
- Update departmental training materials and standard operating procedures, providing training to staff.
- Support the Treasury department with regards to cash management, participating in the month-end and year-end close processes.
- Plan outgoing Wire, EFT/ACH, V-Card, and Cheque payments on a weekly basis, coordinating required annual filings.
- Responsible for the annual performance review of staff, supporting Accounts Payable Coordinators in resolving AP issues.
- Participate in the hiring process for the AP team, contributing to the growth and development of the department.
- Minimum three (3) years of accounts payable or accounts receivable experience, with a strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures.
- Effectively interact with remote internal clients and external vendors, demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience using an ERP system, particularly knowledge of IFS, is an asset.
- Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to change priorities to meet company and team goals.
- Proactive and able to work independently, dealing with individuals at all levels of the organization and escalating issues when necessary.
- Ability to lead a team of AP professionals in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, often with tight deadlines and multiple deliverables.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use sound judgment, with excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
