Industrial Millwright Technician

Job Title: Industrial Millwright
Job Summary:
The Industrial Millwright is a skilled tradesperson responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial machinery and equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, as well as excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect and assemble machinery, using hoists, lift trucks, and hand tools
- Relocate and position equipment, using dollies and trucks
- Interpret blueprints and schematics to determine work procedures
- Dismantle machines, using hammers, crowbars, and wrenches
- Construct foundations for new equipment, using building materials
- Align machines and equipment during installation, using hoists and jacks
- Use a lathe to grind, file, and turn machine parts
- Assemble machinery and equipment, using bolts, welding, and riveting
- Diagnose and repair problems, using screwdrivers, wrenches, and welding torches
- Adhere to assembly and installation instructions, set forth in vendor manuals and specifications
- Repair problems associated with new equipment
- Fabricate new machine parts, if original parts are missing or damaged
- Monitor and maintain working machines, to prevent breakdowns
- Lead apprentices and direct them to ensure successful task completion
- Ensure safety policies, quality standards, and standard operating procedures are followed
- Perform preventative maintenance, once machines and equipment are put into operation
- Complete all paperwork, as required
Requirements:
- Completion of a Red Seal valid Industrial Mechanic Millwright Certification
- Industrial Maintenance/Maintenance Millwright Technology college completion
- Experience in moving, assembling, disassembling, troubleshooting, and repairing various types of machinery and equipment
- Competent in detecting, isolating, and identifying irregularities and malfunctions in machinery and equipment
- Competent in fabricating new parts to replace defective parts during machine setup, maintenance, or overhaul
- Thorough knowledge of load bearing capabilities of the equipment to be installed, assembled, or dismembered
- Demonstrated aptitude in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, schematics, drawings, manuals, and specifications, mathematics
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with quality standards
- Accurate and highly analytical
- Experience in supervising and mentoring apprentices
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
Working Conditions:
- Travel may be required
- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 100 lbs
- Manual dexterity required to use power and hand tools
- Frequently noisy working environment
- Overtime as required
- Unionized USW Local 6187
- 12-hour continental shifts
