Position Overview:

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is seeking a dedicated professional to enhance patient flow and optimize resource utilization within our health services. This role serves as a pivotal contact for care coordination, ensuring efficient system flow management and performance across various service delivery sites.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the formulation, planning, and execution of regional and provincial strategies aimed at improving patient flow.
  • Develop proficiency in Patient Flow Software and Bed Management systems.
  • Provide ongoing education and training on the use of Patient Flow Software and Bed Management tools.
  • Oversee a regional quality monitoring initiative related to Patient Flow Software and Bed Management applications.
  • Engage in the planning, execution, delivery, and assessment of projects that align with operational patient flow performance objectives.
  • Ensure bed availability within facilities according to established regional protocols.

Experience Required:

  • A minimum of 5-10 years of recent experience in an acute medical, surgical, or critical care/emergency setting is essential.
  • Prior experience in an operational capacity, particularly focused on transition planning and practices, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with computerized applications, including Microsoft Office and patient flow software, is advantageous.

Educational Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant healthcare discipline is required.
  • A master's degree is preferred.
  • Training in Lean Six Sigma or a similar methodology is advantageous.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Current registration with a professional association or licensing body is mandatory.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Demonstrated capability to operate effectively within a project team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in utilizing computerized clinical applications efficiently.

Physical Requirements:

  • Willingness to work across all Winnipeg Health Region locations and arrange personal transportation.
