Patient Flow Coordinator

Position Overview:
The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is seeking a dedicated professional to enhance patient flow and optimize resource utilization within our health services. This role serves as a pivotal contact for care coordination, ensuring efficient system flow management and performance across various service delivery sites.
Main Responsibilities:
- Assist in the formulation, planning, and execution of regional and provincial strategies aimed at improving patient flow.
- Develop proficiency in Patient Flow Software and Bed Management systems.
- Provide ongoing education and training on the use of Patient Flow Software and Bed Management tools.
- Oversee a regional quality monitoring initiative related to Patient Flow Software and Bed Management applications.
- Engage in the planning, execution, delivery, and assessment of projects that align with operational patient flow performance objectives.
- Ensure bed availability within facilities according to established regional protocols.
Experience Required:
- A minimum of 5-10 years of recent experience in an acute medical, surgical, or critical care/emergency setting is essential.
- Prior experience in an operational capacity, particularly focused on transition planning and practices, is preferred.
- Familiarity with computerized applications, including Microsoft Office and patient flow software, is advantageous.
Educational Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant healthcare discipline is required.
- A master's degree is preferred.
- Training in Lean Six Sigma or a similar methodology is advantageous.
Licensure and Certification:
- Current registration with a professional association or licensing body is mandatory.
Skills and Competencies:
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Demonstrated capability to operate effectively within a project team environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in utilizing computerized clinical applications efficiently.
Physical Requirements:
- Willingness to work across all Winnipeg Health Region locations and arrange personal transportation.
