Senior Communications Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Communications Advisor to join our team at Nova Scotia Power. As a key member of our Communications department, you will play a critical role in executing our internal communications strategy to keep employees connected and informed.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute a robust internal communications plan to support our strategic direction and priorities
- Shape and draft messaging for senior leaders, including the President and CEO
- Lead the Corporate Communications Assistant role and provide guidance to communications co-op students
- Manage and update all content for internal communication channels, working with stakeholders to produce engaging content
- Evaluate the ongoing relevance and effectiveness of internal communications and adjust tactics and messaging accordingly
- Ensure internal communication messages are consistent with external messages and provide guidance on sharing messages internally first
- Provide day-to-day management of internal communication activities
- Support issues and crisis communication, including playing a key role in storm communications and response
- Represent Corporate Communications on internal special project teams as needed
- Experience in strategic internal communications, including leading, developing, and delivering on communications plans, issues management, and measurement
- Experience providing strategic communications advice to senior leaders
- Experience delivering communication services and messaging to achieve change in a complex environment
- Exceptionally strong writing skills with the ability to learn the voice and tone of senior leaders
- Creative storytelling skills with a proactive approach to identifying and generating new ways to reach employees
- Ability to translate complex organizational initiatives into digestible, meaningful content that aligns with the larger organizational strategy
- A degree or diploma in Public Relations, Communications, or equivalent work-related experience
- More than seven years' experience in communications roles, including at least three years providing senior counsel and strategy development
- Direct experience working in internal and employee communications
