Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and control access points to the respite shelter, ensuring authorized individuals only
  • Verify identities and ensure compliance with shelter policies
  • Conduct regular patrols to deter and detect security risks
  • Utilize surveillance systems to monitor key areas and respond to incidents
  • Respond promptly to calls for service, emergencies, or security incidents
  • Follow established protocols for various emergencies, including medical situations and security threats
  • Provide assistance and support to shelter clients, ensuring a safe and respectful environment
  • Administer immediate first aid and emergency assistance as needed
  • Coordinate with emergency services as required
Requirements
  • Valid Ontario Security Guard license
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Empathy and sensitivity towards individuals experiencing homelessness or crisis
  • Training in conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Tactical Security
  • Law-related educational degree or certification an asset
  • Previous experience working with vulnerable populations an asset
  • Physical fitness for regular patrols and emergency response
