About the Role

Logic Executive Search & Workplace Solutions is proud to partner with the Municipality of Lakeshore in the recruitment of a Division Leader – Engineering & Infrastructure. This role reports directly to the Corporate Leader – Operations, and is responsible for leading and managing the land-use planning division, as well as having direct oversight of long-range planning and development approval initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management: Energize and motivate a diverse team, fostering collaboration and innovation in engineering projects.
  • Operational Management: Organize day-to-day operations, ensuring effective communication and continuous improvement.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide guidance on regulatory requirements, design standards, and technical expertise.
  • Issue Coordination: Coordinate issues, concerns, and programs, with attention to detail.

  • Technical Advice: Provide technical advice on storm and sanitary systems operations and managing the Consolidated Linear Infrastructure program.
  • Engineering Concerns: Ensure responsive addressing of engineering concerns and issues.
  • Municipality Goals: Contribute to establishing and achieving municipality goals.
  • Flood Mitigation: Manage flood mitigation projects and implementing the Flood Mitigation and Protection Frameworks.
  • Flood Rapid Response: Develop and execute Flood Rapid Response Plans during significant rain events.
  • Asset Management: Support asset management planning, infrastructure assessment, renewal, and prioritization.
  • Traffic Calming: Coordinate traffic calming initiatives, speed reduction measures, and safety-related matters.
  • Traffic Studies: Provide technical comments on traffic studies and operational issues.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Transportation Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Experience: 5+ years as a licensed Professional Civil Engineer (eligible for licensure in Ontario)
  • Progressive Experience: 5+ years of progressive engineering experience in municipal public works, encompassing urban, semi-urban, and rural environments. Experience should include plan review, design, and approval of municipal services and transportation engineering.
  • Supervisory Experience: 5+ years of progressive supervisory experience in a unionized setting.
  • Skills: Proven abilities in time management and organizational skills with a strong emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Integrity and Adherence: Demonstrated integrity and adherence to professional standards, regulations, and corporate policies.
  • Leadership and Communication: Demonstrated leadership, communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Judgment and Initiative: Sound judgment, initiative, and creativity in evaluating engineering solutions.
  • Municipal Policies: Practical knowledge of municipal policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and relevant civil engineering design and modeling software.
  • Legislation Familiarity: Familiarity with key legislation including the Environmental Assessment Act, Municipal Act, and others.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Ability to assess options within legislative frameworks and municipal policies.
  • Municipal Development Standards: Thorough understanding of municipal development standards and planning processes.
  • Related Legislation: Knowledge of related legislation such as the Occupational Health & Safety Act and TAC Design manuals.
