Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and support to supervisors on HSE matters, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to promote a safe working environment, identifying and mitigating potential hazards.
  • Conduct regular worksite inspections to ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
  • Follow up on action items resulting from inspections to ensure completion and effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed reporting documents, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Participate in environmental inspections and follow up on environmental action items, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and complete various annual permit and certification renewals, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  • Assist in conducting winter snowplow awareness meetings within the contract areas, promoting safe operating practices.
  • Conduct incident investigations, working closely with the Foreman and Team Lead to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure documentation is up-to-date and current at each location within the contract areas, maintaining accurate records.
  • Assist with Laprairie Works Oilfield Services safety requirements compliance, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, supporting the overall goals and objectives of the organization.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years relevant field safety experience, with a strong understanding of HSE principles and practices.
  • NCSO Professional certification or equivalent is preferred, with OHS Certification being an asset.
  • Experience and/or equivalent knowledge in HSE within the Highway Maintenance, Public Works, and/or Civil Construction industry sectors is preferred.
  • Experience with the WCB process and claims management is an asset, but not required.
  • Experience and proven record in participation of safety management processes, such as safety committees, working groups, auditing, and inspection experience.
  • Hold a valid driver's license, with the ability to travel regularly throughout the area of operations.
  • Able to work effectively with people of all levels, including management, employees, and contractors.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail, able to manage multiple priorities and adapt to fast-changing situations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Self-starter, able to work collaboratively and independently, with the ability to prioritize projects and meet critical deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft basic suite of programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
