Job Title: Lighting Artist

At Sony Pictures Imageworks, we are seeking a skilled Lighting Artist to join our team. As a Lighting Artist, you will be responsible for designing and implementing lighting for characters and environments in assigned shots. Your work will meet and enhance the given art direction for a production, and you will be able to light multiple types of scenes from simple to moderately difficult.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement lighting for characters and environments in assigned shots.
  • Meet and enhance the given art direction for a production.
  • Light multiple types of scenes from simple to moderately difficult.
  • Ensure that assigned shots fit the continuity of the sequence.
  • Develop solutions and techniques that meet art/technical direction.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of Katana, Maya, Linux, UNIX, and scripting ability in relevant languages.
  • Knowledge of Arnold shading, volume rendering, and raytracing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of relevant compositing software including Nuke is preferred.
  • Most desired 2-year diploma or 1-year certificate, however, minimal requirement of 2-3 years of relevant experience may be accepted.
Benefits:
  • Anticipated base salary for an Associate position is $26.44 to $36.32/hr.
  • Anticipated base salary for an Intermediate position is $37.50 to $53.80/hr.
  • Benefits include healthcare, tuition reimbursement, RRSP's, Sick and Vacation leave, standard increases as applicable.
