Job Title: Lighting Artist

We are seeking a skilled Lighting Artist to join our team at Sony Imageworks Vancouver.

About the Role:

The Lighting Artist will be responsible for designing and implementing lighting for characters and environments in assigned shots, ensuring that the lighting meets and enhances the given art direction for a production.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement lighting for characters and environments in assigned shots
  • Ensure that lighting meets and enhances the given art direction for a production
  • Collaborate with supervisors and peers to exchange information relevant to the show or sequences
  • Develop solutions and techniques that meet art/technical direction
  • Accountable for meeting productivity and quota targets
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of Katana, Maya, Linux, UNIX, and scripting ability in relevant languages
  • Knowledge of Arnold shading, volume rendering, and raytracing experience preferred
  • Knowledge of relevant compositing software including Nuke is preferred
  • Most desired 2-year diploma or 1-year certificate, however, minimal requirement of 2-3 years of relevant experience may be accepted
Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary range of $26.44 to $36.32/hr for an Associate position and $53.80/hr for an Intermediate position, as well as benefits including healthcare, tuition reimbursement, RRSP's, Sick and Vacation leave, and standard increases as applicable.

The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.

Please note that you must be able to provide a demo reel that illustrates your relevant artistic and technical experience that also includes the nuances for this specific role.
