Job Overview:
The Automotive Seating Systems Engineer plays a crucial role in the design and development of innovative seating solutions for the automotive industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the design and engineering of automotive seating systems and their components.
- Define functional specifications and develop system documentation including DVPR and DFMEA.
- Release performance specifications, technical drawings, and oversee system validation processes.
- Collaborate with various engineering teams, suppliers, manufacturing facilities, and procurement departments.
- Establish parameters and standards for critical systems and integrate them into CAD design frameworks.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate prior design and engineering experience specific to seating.
- Conduct conceptual design work for seating, performing parametric studies to meet functional design objectives.
- Develop initial packaging designs for seating systems that align with design goals.
- Generate designs that meet specified performance targets and conduct relevant performance analyses.
- Apply knowledge of manufacturing best practices and guidelines.
- Perform competitive benchmarking studies.
- Create and maintain design and analysis templates, adapting to evolving standards.
- Engage in associative parametric modeling and CAD modeling, including automation of NX design templates.
Qualifications:
- This is a hybrid role requiring occasional travel for meetings.
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution is mandatory.
- Relevant years of experience in the field are essential.
- Preferred experience includes automotive seat engineering, testing, manufacturing, and assembly.
- Ability to navigate and respond to multidisciplinary engineering challenges.
- Proficient in Excel and capable of interpreting laboratory procedures.
- Excellent communication skills are a must.
