Senior Buyer Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Buyer to join our team at ATS Life Sciences Systems. As a key member of our procurement team, you will play a critical role in sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing commodities in accordance with departmental goals and best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process purchasing documentation, including Requisitions, Purchase Orders, Cancellation Forms, and non-conforming product, in accordance with ATS policies and procedures.
  • Track, monitor, and maintain purchase order deliveries to drive on-time delivery to schedules.
  • Evaluate and approve suppliers to ensure they meet company requirements, goals, and objectives.
  • Negotiate prices, discounts, and delivery arrangements with suppliers.
  • Perform ongoing reviews of product, service, equipment, and expense usage to identify new opportunities for cost savings.
  • Use historical and benchmarking data to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Resolve invoicing discrepancies and approve for payment.
  • Manage cost containment, product standardization, supplier consolidation, and benchmarking reports to maximize value while maintaining ATS standards.
  • Act as a key resource for ATS staff by assisting in the research and development of products, services, and equipment alternatives, and initiating and following up on evaluations, requests for quotation, and other day-to-day procurement activities.
Requirements
  • A post-secondary diploma or degree in materials management or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of vendor cost negotiation experience.
  • Experience managing a purchasing spend of at least $5 million.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Purchasing (or equivalent).
  • Experience in a custom manufacturing environment is an asset.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office software, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings is an asset.
  • Proven organizational and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and continuous improvement skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives on a cross-functional team.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Highly motivated, customer-focused team player and innovator.
