Job Summary

Cambridge Memorial Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Procurement Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our purchasing department, you will be responsible for ensuring timely availability of goods and services, coordinating purchases and trials, and expediting orders.

The ideal candidate will have a strong working relationship with all hospital departments, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities. Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and execute all activities involved with procuring goods and services for corporate contracts
  • Maintain the integrity of the public procurement process, ensuring all purchases are made and awarded in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Review and process purchase requisitions, identify opportunities for contracts, and coordinate product conversions
  • Attend site meetings as required and maintain Meditech contract system, schedule, and coordinate projects to ensure contracts are in place prior to expiration
  • Update and manage Capital lists for respective product line, lead Request for quotations under $121,200, and assist Buyers with large RFPs
  • Support Buyer team with any project work or large RFPs, updating contracts in Meditech as required, and verifying that items requested for purchase are within established standards of the hospital and comply with BPS directives before processing
  • Vendor Management, report KPIs, and work with AP to resolve AP exceptions
Requirements
  • Completed Post-Secondary Education required, preferably in Business Administration specializing in Purchasing, Materials Management, and Logistics
  • Recent Public Purchasing experience in a Healthcare environment an asset
  • 1 to 2 years' direct experience in procurement required
  • Experience using Meditech an asset
  • Negotiation skills, experience, and knowledge in contract management required
  • Advanced level skills in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively liaise with staff, suppliers, other government agencies, and the general public
  • Highly developed research skills to obtain adequate product use and knowledge and keep abreast of market conditions and issues
  • Proven work skills demonstrating a high level of flexibility and accountability with a customer service focus
  • Self-motivated team player with strong critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities performing time-sensitive tasks
  • Ability to perform in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, and values of the hospital
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Procurement experience in Hospital purchasing
  • Familiarity of public sector procurement practices and procurement-related contract law
  • Certification in a purchasing/supply chain-related area
  • Familiarity in the use of Meditech
  • Familiarity in the use of Bonfire and Merx tendering systems
  • Knowledge of BPS directives, CETA, and CFTA
