Job Summary

The City of Ottawa's Recreation, Cultural and Facility Services department is responsible for delivering a wide range of programs and services that promote a healthy, inclusive, and vibrant community. As an Advanced Sport Specialist, you will play a key role in planning and implementing program content and providing instruction, coaching, or coordination of advanced sport programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement program content for advanced sport programs
  • Provide instruction, coaching, or coordination of advanced sport programs
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders
  • Contribute to the development of program policies and procedures
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in recreation and cultural services

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in recreation, sports management, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in teaching, coaching, or program coordination
  • Appropriate certification in the relevant recreation/sports program
  • Current Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or AED certificates
  • AODA Customer Service/IASR Training

  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain a fun and safe environment

Language Requirements

  • English or French language proficiency, depending on the location
  • Bilingualism may be required for some positions
