Job Title: Technical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Engineer to join our team at Rodan Energy Solutions. As a Technical Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting the Safe Storage and Decommissioning project at the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station.

Job Summary:

The Technical Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and updating operating procedures, receiving assignments from supervisors, and identifying potential problems and opportunities. You will also be required to prepare new or revised procedures, submit them for review and approval, and participate in training programs to further your development and assist in the development of others.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and update operating procedures to ensure current practices are recognized in the procedure.
  • Receive assignments from supervisors and identify potential problems and opportunities.
  • Prepare new or revised procedures consistent with operating licenses, policies, and department standard practices.
  • Participate in training programs to further your development and assist in the development of others.
  • Supervise staff involved in the above activities and provide instructions and direction as required.
  • Prepare reports to provide information and data in answer to external requests or for historical purposes.
  • Initiate studies or investigations where opportunities for improvement are apparent.
  • Provide technical evaluations and advice, solve problems, and coordinate technical work as required.
Qualifications:

We require an undergraduate degree in engineering at minimum and DE Qualified as per OPG Qual would be an asset. You must have a knowledge of physics, chemistry, metallurgy, mathematics, electricity, engineering, and economics to technically understand the operation of the facility. Advanced knowledge of one or more of these subjects is required to evaluate and propose improvements to processes, equipment, and systems or to unit safety, reliability, and performance.

You must also have experience in the design, development, or operation of a nuclear facility or in the development, manufacture, or production of nuclear materials or components or in an industrial environment associated with the design, development, operation, or maintenance of industrial systems and equipment. Experience to solve problems, provide advice and guidance, initiate developmental studies, and make recommendations during the design, commissioning, and operation of a nuclear facility is also required.

A period of over 6 years and up to and including 8 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
