Snow Cat Operator Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Snow Cat Operator to join our team at Resorts of the Canadian Rockies. As a key member of our Grooming team, you will be responsible for ensuring the snow grooming equipment is operated safely and in accordance with company procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate grooming equipment, completing pre and post-trip inspections of machinery.
  • Groom, maintain, and rebuild ski runs.
  • Build and maintain lift entries.
  • Communicate effectively with all departments regarding operations.
  • Comply with all departments and company policies and procedures.
  • Perform daily light maintenance (refueling, topping up fluids, greasing, and cleaning interior and exterior).
  • Complete log sheets.
  • Recognize and report any unusual noises and conditions to the Maintenance team.
  • Be an advocate for health and safety.
  • Work flexible shifts, including afternoons, evenings, holidays, and weekends.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience operating snow grooming equipment, with an excellent safety record.
  • Mechanically inclined, with an understanding of basic operations and maintenance of equipment.
  • Basic understanding of mountain resort maintenance and ski/snowboarding terrain needs.
  • Team-oriented with a desire to make a positive contribution to the entire resort.
  • Excellent communications skills and ability to work well with a diverse range of people.
