Job Title: Home Helper

VON Canada is seeking a skilled and compassionate Home Helper to join our team. As a Home Helper, you will provide homemaking services to individuals and families in their homes, promoting independence and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform light housekeeping tasks, including dusting, cleaning, and laundry
  • Prepare meals and complete environmental risk assessments
  • Provide companionship and conversation to clients
  • Assist with walking and provide stabilization
  • Remind clients of medication and appointments
  • Evaluate and observe clients' homes and personal situations
  • Contribute to the development of care plans with the Coordinator
  • Communicate with healthcare teams regarding client needs
Requirements:
  • High school graduate
  • 2-3 years' experience working with children, seniors, and people with disabilities
  • Post-secondary education preferred
  • Household management or professional customer service experience preferred
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred
  • Personal Support Worker or Health Care Aide certification an asset
Working Conditions:

This role requires a detail-oriented approach in a dynamic environment, with physical activity including lifting, carrying, bending, reaching, kneeling, and other movements that emphasize good body mechanics. Individuals in this role are required to walk, sit, stand, and climb stairs throughout the day, with some tasks requiring fine hand movements.
