About the Role

DNEG is seeking a highly skilled Facial Rigger to join our team of experts in creating award-winning visual effects and animation for feature films, television, and multiplatform content.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the CG Lead and Animation Lead to develop animation rigs for specialist characters, ensuring seamless integration with texturing, grooming, lighting, and rendering pipelines.
  • Work closely with Animators and Modellers to design intuitive and responsive rigs for characters, fostering a collaborative environment and strong communication skills.
  • Develop and implement proprietary tools to aid in creating animation rigs, in conjunction with the R&D department.
  • Contribute to the development of the most suitable rigging solutions, working closely with Rigging Supervisors and Animation Leads/Supervisors.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with significant creature/character projects, demonstrating expertise in character specialisation (body, face, mechanical rigs).
  • Thorough knowledge of FACS and Animal FACS, with a deep understanding of human and animal anatomy.
  • Full working knowledge of Maya, with proficiency in mathematics (linear algebra) and fundamental animation knowledge.
  • Familiarity with pipeline issues and a typical character/creature-heavy post-production environment.
  • Extensive understanding of the fundamental laws of physics.

Desirable Skills

  • Programming or scripting skills (MEL, Python, C++).
  • Experience in USD / Solaris / Houdini.
  • Knowledge of Facial Capture, MetaHuman, and other facial capturing tools.
