Position OverviewReporting directly to the Director of Maintenance, you will oversee the technical direction, supervision, coaching, and support of the Component and Paint shop team members and contractors. You will be accountable for all activities, daily operations, safety protocols, and leadership of the Component and Paint Shop teams. Independent judgment will be required to prioritize tasks and resolve issues, with any unusual situations escalated to the Director of Maintenance.
Key Responsibilities Manage the daily operations of the component shop, including task allocation and assignments for team members. Provide training, mentorship, and support to crew members, ensuring they possess the necessary skills and knowledge for their roles. Assess crew performance, offer constructive feedback, and conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and mentoring. Ensure all work conducted in the shop adheres to the standards outlined in the Conair AMO, AOC manuals, and CAR regulations. Develop and manage the work schedule, ensuring timely completion of tasks and optimal resource utilization. Monitor inventory levels of tools, parts, and materials, coordinating with procurement to maintain necessary supplies. Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies in all shop activities. Provide regular updates and reports to the Director of Maintenance regarding shop performance, challenges, and resource requirements. Communicate project milestones and timelines to both internal and external customers. Identify and implement process improvements within the shop to enhance efficiency, safety, and quality. Foster and enforce a culture of safety within the shops, including conducting safety meetings and ensuring adherence to safety protocols. Develop and manage the shop's budget, controlling costs and making recommendations for expenditures. Designate Lead Hands for on-call duties, shop assignments, and projects as necessary. Perform other duties as required. Required Qualifications Valid AME license is mandatory. A minimum of 10 years of aviation experience, with at least 3 years in a component shop environment. Completion of a recognized and approved training course is essential. Ability to maintain approved standards of Quality Assurance and control. Previous supervisory experience is required.
