Position Overview
In this role, the Loss Prevention Specialist will report directly to the Store Manager and collaborate closely with the Area Loss Prevention Manager. The primary focus will be on the daily execution of Loss Prevention strategies and programs within the designated store. Responsibilities encompass achieving goals related to inventory shrinkage and safety, identifying and safely detaining shoplifters, recovering stolen merchandise, conducting audits, utilizing Loss Prevention technology, and training store staff on relevant Loss Prevention topics.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute and uphold all Loss Prevention strategies and protocols in collaboration with Store Management and the Area Loss Prevention Manager to safeguard company assets and ensure a secure environment for customers and employees.
- Assist in the training of store personnel on Loss Prevention policies and procedures, working alongside the Store Manager and Area Loss Prevention Manager.
- Identify and apprehend shoplifters safely, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and company policies. Collaborate with the Area Loss Prevention Manager on internal theft investigations and track incidents using the department's case management system.
- Implement strategies to reduce losses in partnership with store teams and Loss Prevention leadership, monitoring compliance throughout the inventory cycle and reporting progress as needed.
- Utilize Loss Prevention technology, including CCTV, Access Control, EAS, and exception-based reporting systems, to address loss and safety concerns within the store.
- Engage with the store's RFID Inventory system and provide ongoing training to team members, resolving operational issues in collaboration with the store team and the LP Inventory Accuracy team.
- Support assigned locations in conducting financial inventories and RFID-based cycle counts as directed.
- Maintain regular communication with other Loss Prevention team members and facilitate cross-departmental communication to identify and address common challenges.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Desired Skills and Experiences
- Experience in Loss Prevention or Asset Protection within a multi-unit environment.
- Thorough understanding of Canadian laws and regulations regarding apprehensions and safety in Loss Prevention; provincial licensing is a requirement.
- Proven experience in conducting internal investigations and managing external apprehension programs.
- Ability to effectively communicate with law enforcement and legal professionals regarding criminal and civil matters.
- Familiarity with Loss Prevention technologies and methodologies, including CCTV, covert surveillance, EAS, Access Control, and Intrusion Detection systems.
- Knowledge of inventory management systems and principles of inventory accuracy, including familiarity with RFID technology.
- Strong customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Detail-oriented with effective time management abilities.
- Results-driven problem solver capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Proficient in MS Office and G-suite applications.
- Flexibility to work a schedule that meets departmental and company needs.
- Physical capability to stand or walk for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Willingness to travel within assigned locations as required by business needs.
