About the Opportunity

Grande Prairie Public School Division is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to join our team at Peace Collaborative Services, a regional organization providing specialized educational support services across six Northwestern Alberta school jurisdictions.

The ideal candidate will be energetic and enjoy working with children from Preschool through Grade 12, collaborating with other disciplines such as Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, and Psychology, and for students with visual and/or hearing impairment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop intervention programs, conduct periodic re-assessment/evaluation of individual programs, and recommend adjustments as needed.
  • Provide direct treatment intervention to specific children.
  • Instruct teachers, assistants, volunteers, and parents in speech language intervention techniques.
  • Participate in case conferences, parent interviews, medical consultations, and clinic programming.
  • Research and provide consultation.
  • Supervise para-professional staff and provide programming input for Educational Assistants.
  • Provide input into the direction and requirements of the Speech Language Pathology program in various jurisdictions.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate a quality assurance program.
  • Provide input into annual operating and capital equipment budgets.
  • Provide input into the development and implementation of group programs.
  • Attend staff, department, and other meetings as required.
Qualifications
  • You work well independently and can show initiative.
  • You are self-motivated, and an enthusiastic learner with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • You must be registered or eligible to be registered with the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA).
  • You have a valid driver's license (travel required).
  • You have a Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Intervention Record Check.
  • Pediatric experience is an asset.
