About the Role
  • Manage projects and initiatives that support the advancement of waste reduction and sustainability goals, ensuring effective project planning, execution, and evaluation.
  • Lead project teams, ensuring effective teamwork, high standards of work quality, and continuous learning and innovation.
  • Develop and implement detailed project plans, including change management plans, and consult with stakeholders on project planning, execution, and evaluation.
  • Review, track, and evaluate project progress and performance, ensuring adherence to schedule, scope, and budget.
  • Conduct research and analysis, and provide leadership direction to junior staff to support project objectives.
  • Analyze policy and programmatic issues, develop strategies, and make recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Prepare and review studies and plans, and advise on implementation of recommendations to achieve waste management strategy objectives.
  • Work with procurement and legal teams to develop and evaluate contracts, and manage vendor performance.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to advance project deliverables.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders, including industry associations and organizations.
  • Represent the Institute of Public Administration of Canada at meetings and committees, and correspond with stakeholders as required.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, consultants, and vendors.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations to senior management, public meetings, and committees.
Key Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in Environmental Studies, Public Policy and Administration, Sustainability, or a related discipline.
  • Considerable management and organizational experience in project management, policy analysis, and strategic planning.
  • Experience in policy development, program evaluation, and stakeholder engagement, particularly in a government setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and in collaboration with stakeholders and subject matter experts.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize activities, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, database software, and digital meeting and collaboration tools.
