Job Summary

The Maintenance Student will be responsible for performing daily upkeep of assigned areas and equipment, grounds maintenance, and other facility-related tasks. This role will provide support to the Maintenance and Facilities Manager in maintaining the County's Paramedic stations and other facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily maintenance tasks, including cleaning, painting, and general housekeeping
  • Assist with grounds maintenance, including weeding gardens and cleaning eaves troughs
  • Conduct facility and equipment maintenance duties as required
  • Work with minimal supervision, demonstrating self-motivation and a willingness to learn new tasks
  • Provide excellent customer service and interact effectively with colleagues and stakeholders
  • Meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting 50lbs

Requirements

  • Be a registered full-time post-secondary student during the preceding academic year and returning to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year
  • Enrolled in building operations or architectural technology/technician, carpentry and renovation techniques, or project management school program (an asset)
  • Proven knowledge in building maintenance and repair
  • Hold a Valid Class G License and be willing to complete a brief road test in the service vehicle
  • Have completed a criminal reference check from within the last 6 months
